How to apply for BTech counselling (JAC, JOSAA) after JEE results are out

After the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) results are out, the next crucial step is applying to various engineering colleges through different counselling processes. Here’s a guide to help you navigate through the admissions journey for institutes under JAC(Joint Admission Counselling),  JoSAA(Joint Seat Allocation Authority), and other B.Tech colleges.

  1. JoSAA Counselling– JoSAA conducts the centralized counselling for admission into IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFITs(Government Funded Technical Insititutes). After JEE Main and JEE Advance result are declared, you must register on the JoSAA portal. Here’s how:

a) Visit the JoSAA official website (https://josaa.nic.in)

b) Create a new account and complete registeration.

c) Fill in your JEE Main or JEE Advanced roll number and other personal details.

d) Select the participating institutions and courses you’re interested in.

e) Lock your choices and wait for the seat allocation process.

f) If selected, pay the fee and complete the document at the reporting time.

2. JAC Delhi- JAC Delhi conducts admissions to several colleges in Delhi, including DTU, IIIT Delhi, and NSIT. The process is similar:

a) Register online on the JAC Delhi website (https://jacdelhi.nic.in).

b) Submit your JEE Main rank and select your preferred colleges and courses.

c) Based on your rank, JAC will allocate seats to you.

d) Pay the required fees and get your document verified.

3. Other State/Private College- Admissions Other than JoSAA and JAC, several states (like Maharashtra, Punjab, and Rajasthan) have their own counselling processes for B.Tech admissions. These are often based on JEE Main or state-level entrance exams.

a) Research the specific eligibility criteria and application process for your chosen colleges.

b) Register on their respective website.

c) Complete the application form and upload necessary documents.

d) Follow the counselling schedule and attend the counselling rounds.

TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL  APPLICATIONS:

  1. Keep all your documents handy: JEE scorecard, 12th marksheet, identity proof, and category certificate(if applicable).
  2. Stay updated on counselling dates and seat allotment results.
  3. Prioritize your preferences based on the colleges and course you’re aiming for.
